
Screaming Azaleas was awarded the Ladislav Kubik International Prize i n Composition. This work is a song cycle for Soprano, Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello, Harp, Piano, and Percussion . The theme of Screaming Azaleas is a southern tragedy that tells the story of a mother finding her drowned son at the edge of a pond. The grief process and pain of losing a child ties each song together as the mother also deals with her own mortality. (soprano vocalist, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, harp, percussion, and piano)
